I think the best is to belend it slightly but also make it stand out i.e. do not beld to well which can deceive the user.

blend but change color ever so slightly so that it is not apparent straight away...the eye seems to see something different and is subconciously drawn to it

I have one site with a dark bluish textured background.
By using a combination of a well-blended ad unit, versus a black background/neon green link text- the neon grabs the attention of the viewer much, much more.
Granted- this is on a Forum, which requires constant changing to prevent ad blindness from regular viewers.
Though unique visitors have been finding the un-blended ads quite often.

    yes i agree with this.

but if you have more traffic. people could have a 'ads blind syndrome'. where they without their notice memorize the place of ads and automatically 'ignore' ads.

so, the effective way is to have a random color ads :p
people would always see a change and they woulndt have that 'ads blind syndrome'.

so personaly i will go for attractive color :)

yes thats why maybe forums must have an ads placement change after a while to prevent ads blind.

bleding is always better for your website or blog, but then again you can always change your ad colours and style frequently to see what result you will get.

I have them blend since I don't want to have them look too contrasting.

    - When Adsense ads are in the text/core of the page: blended ads. Always, always blended; it gives much better results.

    - when Adsense ads are near the "BACK" (top left) or "CLOSE" (top right) buttons: ads with color.

I learned this here on DP. Slightly brighter color for the top/right banners has given better results.
