Your age in chocolate

Don't tell me your age; you probably would tell a falsehood anyway-but the Hershey Man will know!
    YOUR AGE BY CHOCOLATE MATH

    This is pretty neat.

DON'T CHEAT BY SCROLLING DOWN FIRST!
It takes less than a minute .
Work this out as you read ...
Be sure you don't read the bottom until you've worked it out!
This is not one of those waste of time things, it's fun.

    1. First of all, pick the number of times a week that you would like to have chocolate
(more than once but less than 10)

    2. Multiply this number by 2 (just to be bold)

    3. Add 5

    4. Multiply it by 50 -- I'll wait while you get the calculator

    5. If you have already had your birthday this year add 1756 ....
    If you haven't, add 1755.

    6. Now subtract the four digit year that you were born.

You should have a three digit number

The first digit of this was your original number
(i.e., how many times you want to have chocolate each week).

    The next two numbers are

YOUR AGE! (Oh YES, it is!!!!!)

THIS IS THE ONLY YEAR (2006) IT WILL EVER WORK, SO SPREAD IT AROUND WHILE IT LASTS.

Any mathematician wish to come in here and analyse the steps, and remove the magic behind this? :)

How do people figure these math tricks out? How? I ask. How? Or is that the math gods truly can peer it our souls, extracting significant information from our desire for chocolate and a need to be recognized for more than just chocolate. To be seen as ourselves! Ourselves, in a world gone mad with fake chocolate and artificial sweeteners. Mad! I say. Mad!

I'm no mathematician, but here's how it works.

OK, so if we replace the number you picked with "x"
then multiply by 2.... x * 2, which is the same as 2x
    then add 5, so... 2x + 5
    then multiply it all by 50... 100x + 250
    then add 1756 or 1755
    ... 100x + 250 + 1756 or 100x + 250 + 1755
    which is the same as
    ... 100x + 2006 or 100x + 2005
Then subtract the year u were born
    ... so 100x + (2006 or 2005) - year of birth = age

So whatever number u picked is gonna be the first number multiplied by 100, and 2006 or 2005 (depending if you've had your birthday) less your year of birth gives your age.

    Make sense? Good, lol.
    :)
