my web server I only have lynx on, so I decided to try downloading gaim - which is a 5 megabyte file:

I don't know how the math works, but I think that 886KB/s roughly equals about 7 MBPs. The download speed is of course affected by the server. EasyNews is usually pretty reliable so I figure it's pretty close to the max.
