So I realized that there are certain folders in the DP forum that I read a lot, and others that almost never look at. I usually end up in General Chat, Underground, and Search Engine Optimization. Sometimes I look at Google, Blogging, Buy/Sell, and Web Reviews. Sometimes I debate about where to post things because I know certain folders are read more than others, but yea....I try to be good and stay on topic.

Are there cool topics and stuff happening in other folders? Am I missing out on anything? I feel like someone needs to do a Threadwatch just for DP. I don't have time to check everything myself! :p

Well I saw your post about your site and improving it. That to me says you think you need a change to draw traffic.

If it's traffic you desire, marketing is key. However, you can get an edge in the serps perhaps using FREEBS - Free Amazon Book Store to add on topic pages to your site. This project is showing results in the serps and income for most, if not all, users of the software so far.

So check out the Other Tools forum from time to time. There are more tools available there that can help you as well.

It's alllll about the ''Digital Point'' part of the forum (intro's, general chat, website reviews, suggestions & feedback and the underground) the rest of DP is pointless. This is where the party's at!!!!!!

    Hey Noppid...

Thanks for the input...i do a lot of marketing and I get traffic, not worried about that. What I'm shooting for is creating a destination that will help the visitors I already get. I just find myself bored with most of the business portals (not to be confused with forums necessarily) out there. I really like to content style of Life Hacker and Gizmodo, but I'm also a very visual person so I want to do something a bit more magazine style I guess.

Anyway, (keeping it on topic) there's lot of good info on business and marketing here on DP...so I was curious to see what other folders people are into reading! :)

I just click on "new posts" and scan the topics. If you mouse over the title, it gives you a preview of the actual thread.

    LOL

Yea....I got that part. Although reading general chat is sometimes like watching my neighbors daily domestic spats on the sidewalk (it's fascinating and bizarre, entertaining...and yet also totally draining). ;)

I sometimes come across great business threads, but it's hard to cruise every folder on a consistent basis. I know you can scan stuff, but it's easy to miss the best advice that way. I 'd love to see a "best of DP" sticky note in each area.

Damn, maybe I just need to bookmark and post a my favorites list.

In order (reading, not necessarily posting):
    1. Google
    2. Directories
    3. Search Engine Optimization
    4. Co-op Advertising Network
    5. General Chat
    6. The Underground
    7. Suggestions and Feedback
    8. HTML and Website Design
    9. Yahoo
    10. MSN
and occasionally other forums depending on titles that catch my eye

I had an idea for a cool VB mod.

In your preferences you can set which other members you like and add some keywords you're interested in. Also rate the main forums on a scale of your interest.

Then the system will make up a score of each thread as it evolves. If your buddies post in there a lot and it has some of your keywords mentioned a lot and is in your favourite forum, it gets a high match. So without having read a word you can make an informed decision on whether to dive in there or steer clear.

Other rules could be stuff like score deduction if more than 2 noobs post in there etc. All user definable. So you basically get a personalized algorith that aids in post reading decision making.

    Might exist already though...
