Where is your favourite holiday destination and why?

Where are you heading to this year for your vacation...

I'll be jetting off to Boston on the 17 September, then to Chicago, and finally NY.. 4 weeks in the US.. lock up your daughters :D lol

My favourite vacation spot is the Giza plateau near Cairo, Egypt. I've been there 8 times both for a holiday and for some minor archaeology work I undertook years ago. I love the country, the people and, most of all, the rich history and mystery that comes from the pyramids, etc.

This year, probably going to Valencia in Spain to meet up with an old work colleague, as he has offered to put up with my wife and 3 kids too - the fool !

Stephen lol you know me too well ;)

Seriously though, I'm always looking for cool places to go to.. I made a pact when I reached the BIG '30' that I'd go and visit a new country every year, be it European or long haul.

Vancouver Island sounds great.. is that for your honeymoon?

Roar, I can't believe I'm asking this but where is Charlotte Amalie, and STT?

Padawan, I've always wanted to go to Egypt, it's on my must see list! You will LOVE valencia, it's a wonderful city, loads to see and do.

Charlotte Amalie is the capital of the United States Virgin Islands, located on St Thomas=STT. Where all the cruise ships come in and play.

Look at Tortola, British Virgin Islands. Its the best spot in the area...and part of the UK...

I could talk for hours about the spot...I like the BVI's more. Probally a lot more to be honest. Nightlife is best on St Thomas,..food and snorkelling in St. John...everything else BVI's.

Yep, we're hoping to go see the Rockies for a day or 2 as well. My Gran knows some people in Vancouver City who are going to put us up at the end of our holiday. :)

-My favourite holiday destination...? Hmm, well I have loads of place that I love, because I love travelling and exploring ect. But my absolute fave has got to be Turkey (and I don't mean 'our' Turkey, Yfs :p). Infact, I'd say I'm bording on being a Turkeyholic. I'm currently learning Turkish, which is actually going rather spiffing. & I know absolutely everything there is to know about it. (Although, that's not a bad thing considering I want to live & work there in the near future)

-Why...? Because it is just unbelieveable. The country is gorgeous, it has so much culture and history. And, if you're not into that it's also got beautiful sandy beaches, lovely hotels, pubs, clubs, delicious restaurants and fabulous markets and shops where you can pick up some real bargains. In my opinion, the people are what really make the holiday, though. They are just so lovely. You'd really have to visit their country and experience it for yourself to know what i'm talking about. They are so welcoming and will literally do ANYTHING to make your holiday better. Ahh I better shut up now, because this is one subject I can talk about forever...

-Where are you heading to this year for your vacation...? Guess? :D Yup, Turkey. I'm going to the Aegean coast, but Ideally I want to travel round abit, see the less touristic places, get a taste of the real culture and also visit Istanbul.

I have to say that San Diego is pretty much my favorite spot in the world, especially the coastline from Pacific Beach all the way up to Carlsbad and even further North (Mission Beach and Ocean beach area = just say NO).

Then again, I haven't been to too many places. Where I would go next is New Zealand, from what I have seen, it looks kinda like where I live, only a lot cleaner and much more quiet :)

This topic is so depressing, I have not gone anywhere for vacation, ever. But if I did, I'd love to visit Ireland or Hawaii.
