Youtubes sh*t design and nofollow on outbound links

Just discovered YT account nofollow outbounds today, has been dofollow since 2007+ and probably earlier.

Well that's it for all of those who enjoyed having a strong dofollow back link from youtube accounts. In my peak I had two pr7 YT accounts linking to sites, one achieving PR5 (with extra link building the other PR4. Still it was a great way to get into the PR club with other members with similar PR sites. Now I'll have to start again :(

Youtube had done the right thing for a long time to allow a dofollow link considering that the site's fanfare was it's user base uploading content to the site. The least YT could do (and had done so) is offer the dofollow link back to their blog/website in appreciation of this.

Now that's over Youtube will be swarming in the SERP's again given that everyone links to it and it's video pages. A site as influential as this (Wikipedia and others too) will absorb most of the webs voting power (linking power) hence a future bias/advantage towards SERPs.

There was a report a while ago that Google will be reducing the outbound voting power for viral media/network sites but for Google to demerit them all would be the equivalent of harvesting a Schindler's list of the sites in question which would be laborious, unpractical and ad hoc at best going against Googles premise of unbiased automation.

The only practical solution here is for Google to release the dam gates of voting power so to speak and allow it to flow freely across the web as this will even distribution for a better SERP result.

Matt Cutts tells us to not PR sculpture yet Google PR sculptures and chisels the crap out of YT and it's associated products.

My option yours maybe different, feel free to have your say :)

Just remember to add "rel = nofollow" to your embedded youtubes on your sites pages!

    eg:

    <iframe width="560" height="315" rel="nofollow" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/Yu9Muc-jn4Q" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
