ZenCart and Google Checkout

Hi. i am starting a jewellery ecommerce site for the UK, thinking I will take my knowledge of SEO and article marketing (just started playign with adwords so not ready for that yet) and translating it into sales for myself rather than others.

I have played around a little and have been impressed by zencart (aside from the lack of decent free templates - looks like I will have to go with a paid one, there are some very attractive looking paid jewellery templated available it seems). So I intend to go with ZenCart as a software.

I have had some issues with paypal recently which thankfully have been resolved but have made me very wary of using them for an ecommerce solution. I know many of you will say 'use paypal' anyway but tbh I would rather look elsewhere.

Now I haven't tried Google Checkout before but it looks interesting. Whilst it is not a main option with ZenCart there is a module to install that says it adds Google Checkout as an option.

Now I am not ready to go live with my site by any stretch (found some suppliers but researching, expect it to be a couple of months before I am ready) but I would like to have a 'beta' version of the site up and running in the next few weeks.

To that end I wanted to know what people think about google checkout - please don't just give an opinion if you have never used it. How easy is Google checkout to integrate with ZenCart for the relative novice and is it easy to work as an ongoing processor.

I have been looking at other solutions (such as proper merchant payment processors etc) but to begin with I would liek to try something basic like this till i can see if the site is going to be a success or not.

Thoughts and comments are welcome - all advice appreciated.
